I am a visual artist who makes drawings with any drawing material which produces a line in the broadest sense.
Intricate layers of repeated lines characterise my artwork. In that sense, my work is meditative.
My objective is not to achieve a fixed result based on preconceived patterns or anticipated outcomes. Instead, my focus is on the process, which I highly prioritise. I aspire to remain in a state of not knowing, as it allows for the emergence of fresh discoveries.
Although my work does not represent what I have seen, I draw inspiration from fully immersing myself in nature while sailing at sea, as I find the experience analogous to the act and process of drawing. In the studio, my focus is always on the material and the process.
The final works are an interplay of control, intuition and chance.
Born in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, and having lived in different countries, cities and villages, Dronkers' drawings offer different perspectives.
She divides her time between her land-based studio in Nijmegen, The Netherlands, and her sailing boat. Her work is heavily influenced by her extended stays at sea, where nothing is what it seems and where everything can change within a split second.
She was trained as a free artist, painted, worked with textiles and textile design, and made jewellery.
In 2007, she consciously chose drawing as her primary focus.
Her work is in private collections in Europe and America and the collection of the municipality Nijmegen.
