How are you?
Do you also enjoy the change of the light in nature?
In one of the earlier newsletters I spoke about the fact that everything will turn into its opposite in the long run (I Tjing)..
The previous drawings consisted of many thin layers of lines
made with acrylic markers.
The work was airy because the shapes and the irregular patterns were vague/ blurry and very subtle.
You can see that it can be even more subtle in the new work on paper: "Breathing".
The drawings consist of many very thin layers
of pigment ink (airbrush ink).
This ink contains such a strong pigment that even if I dilute the ink a lot,
it stays radiant.

I only use three colors: magenta, radiant yellow
and a mix of cyan blue en ultramarine blue.
I don’t mix the colors beforehand but make them appear by applying many layers on top of each other, with small shifts.
The more layers, the closer the color is to brown or gray.
And all kinds of things happen along the way!
“Breathing”, do you know that image:
the swell of the sea, it is as if the sea is breathing.
The image has become an experience since I sailed at sea.
While working there is only the paper, the ink,
the spalters and the breathing.
How many breaths would a drawing take?
That turned out to be very different…
The series had begun…….
